MEMBERS of marine rescue group, Equinac, attended a beach in Villaricos last week where a dead dolphin had been found.
The 1.4 metre striped dolphin had apparently been dead for a number of hours and samples were taken for analysis.
Although the results have not yet been returned, it appeared that the animal had been suffering from a virus which caused its death.
A number of dolphins and sea turtles have been washed up on the province’s beaches in recent months and Equinac volunteers have attended all of them.
