THE Andalucia Bird Society will be going to El Torcal for their field trip on Saturday May 21 leaving at 9.30am.

This is an area of incredible rock formations and high mountain birds. The trip will include a walk around the El Torcal karst and then continue with a tour of the Sierra de la Chimenea.

It is a full day trip which many members use as a great social day sharing cars and eating picnics as they bird watch. The possible birds to be seen are Griffon Vultures and Peregrine Falcons.

There may also be Golden and Bonnelli’s Eagles, Eagle and Little Owls, Wheatears, Blue Rock Thrushes, and many Warblers.

Everyone is very welcome irrespective of ability. The leader for the day will be Luis Alberto Rodriguez, a professional bird guide, who really knows this area and where to find the birds.

The Andalucia Bird Society is a not-for-profit group of bird watchers (visitors and residents) based in Andalucia. It holds monthly field trips for its members and hosts an informative website for the advancement of birding knowledge.

Membership is open to all interested parties and all levels of experience are most welcome.
