New President for BCCS

AT its Annual General Meeting held on Friday, May 13, the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain elected Chris Dottie, managing director of Hays España, as president of the organisation for the next two years, where he will work with national VP Adam Austerfield and the other 13 General Council (GC) members in order to ensure that the chamber delivers great value to members.

In a letter to members, Mr Dottie said: “The British Chamber of Commerce in Spain is in a fantastic position as I begin my term as president, and for that I would like to give thanks to Roger Cooke, outgoing president. Roger has presided over a period of impressive evolution and he has been very generous in encouraging the new GC to continue pushing and developing, to build on the current foundations.

“I would also like to place on record our gratitude for the enormous contributions made by outgoing GC members who did not stand for the current term; Karen Stock (former president), Christopher Lee (20 years on GC, including many officer positions), Jane Upton (12 years on GC), Pedro Léon, Victoria Anzola and Luis Miguel Fuentes.

 “We have launched a strategic planning process that should be complete in the coming weeks, and we will keep all members informed about our plans and objectives. It is a fantastic challenge to ensure that a historic, prestigious association such as ours, which has over 100 years of history, retains its roots while also ensuring that we are forward thinking and continuously relevant to all our members and stakeholders.

 “In order to achieve that we rely on the excellence of Eva and her hard-working team, on the contribution of our talented and experienced Governing Council and also on the communication and participation of all of our members. I trust that I can rely on you all to share your feedback with us, to promote the chamber to your contacts and to get involved, whether by offering your time on regional committees, sponsoring events or offering facilities.
