Palmones LIDL burns to ground

A SPECTACULAR blaze overwhelmed the LIDL supermarket in the Palmones industrial estate, Los Barrios, around 5pm on Sunday May 8, with firefighters having to work quickly to control the burning building due to its proximity to two petrol stations.

Onlookers made videos using their mobile phones as emergency services erected a security barrier around the raging fire, as thick black smoke hampered visibility.

Reports suggest the fire originated in the trolley park, before the shop itself erupted in flames, with up to 10 fire engines on the scene during the initial battle.
