NEW FILM: The movie was filmed almost entirely in Torremolinos.

TORREMOLINOS mayor Jose Ortiz aims to promote cinematography in the town, and has made a good start by signing an agreement with the company responsible for the movie ‘Resort Paraiso’ (Paradise Resort), filmed mostly in La Carihuela, for which a teaser was shown at the Malaga Film Festival.

The movie, a tense thriller shot by local director Enrique Garcia, was filmed at the ‘Sol Timor’ hotel and is scheduled to go on general release in the third quarter of 2016.

It tells the story of a couple who take refuge in a hotel which is closed for winter, where they encounter a fiendish security guard.

Ortiz expressed his enthusiasm for the film because “cinema is an important cultural opportunity to regain the splendour of this town, a film town.”

The deal will see a number of courses and seminars related to production and other aspects of film also take place.
