Valentino Rossi, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP.
THE evergreen Valentino Rossi roared his way to first place at the Spanish Grand Prix with a dominant performance that saw him secure the 113th victory of his career and his 87th top class win.
Meanwhile the 37-year-old’s Yamaha teammate, Spanish former world champion Jorge Lorenzo, came in second to mark a huge weekend for the Japanese manufacturer before Lorenzo’s imminent departure.
Another Spaniard, Marc Marquez, finished third at Jerez de la Frontera, losing his two-race winning streak but securing enough points to continue leading the standings as the racers prepare for Le Mans on May 8.
Northern Ireland’s Eugene Lafferty was the best performing Brit with a solid ninth place, while Rossi continued bolstering his legend by becoming the first non-Spaniard to win the race since 2009.
