A LARGE sea turtle was discovered dead in the sea off the coast of San Jose last weekend. The animal was discovered by a group of divers from Isub scuba-diving centre.
The divers immediately contacted marine rescue group Equinac which dispatched volunteers to the scene.
The turtle, a leatherback, one of the largest species of turtle on the planet was found to be in a poor state of deterioration and a necropsy could not be performed to establish the cause of death. The species is listed as endangered by the World Union for Nature.
