EastEnders spinoff Redwater casts Fionnula Flanagan in main part

FIONNULA FLANAGAN: Star of Lost and the Others.

Lost and The Others star Fionnula Flanagan has joined the cast of EastEnders spinoff Redwater. The respected Irish actress started work on the BBC drama as filming on the project officially began. There’s no word yet on exactly who Flanagan will be playing, but she’ll be part of the drama’s main cast and will definitely be causing a stir.

Speaking of her new part, Flanagan commented: “This is a fascinating character, full of secrets, deceit and manipulation. My favourite!”  Redwater follows Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie’s EastEnders characters Kat and Alfie Moon as they move to an Irish village in search of Kat’s long-lost son. The series will consist of six hour-long episodes and it’s thought that the Moons’ new home will have more than a few surprises in store for them.

Richie has expressed hope that Redwater could become a continuing series. “With the storylines we’ve heard, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t a long runner. That’s the plan,” he said.

BBC One’s The Musketeers will draw to a close with a third and final series. Originally announced way back in February 2015 – but it has now been confirmed that the next 10 episodes will bring the swashbuckling show to an end. “Season 3 of The Musketeers completes this 30-hour series with ambition and energy,” said executive producer Jessica Pope. “It is packed with action and adventure, fun and drama from the very first opening seconds of episode one to the very end. It is a season that will delight its fans and pay off everything they have come to love about the show. Bigger in scale and more serialised than before, it has been real privilege and a joy to produce such a fabulous piece of entertainment for the BBC.”
