Three die in traffic accident

THREE people died on Saturday April 16 in a traffic accident on the Andratx motorway.

The accident, which also left two others critically injured, occurred at 5pm when a convertible carrying four young people collided with a motorcycle. According to emergency sources, both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Andratx when the accident occurred around exit 10.

Ambulances and Local Police from Calvia arrived at the scene to find the motorcyclist and two of the passengers in the car dead, and the driver of the convertible, a 20-year-old Bulgarian woman, and another passenger seriously injured.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver had exceeded the speed limit at the time of the accident. She is currently in very critical condition in the ICU of Son Espases Hospital. The other surviving passenger is also in critical condition at the Policlinica Miramar.
