AFTER a short battle with cancer, Victoria Wood has died, her publicist has announced.
The much admired and loved British singer, comedian and actress died surrounded by her family in her north London home.
The award winning sketch writer received a CBE in 2008 and has starred in numerous plays, films and sitcoms recently appearing in the celebrated Dinnerladies.
In a statement, the comedian’s publicist Neil Reading said: “Victoria Wood has sadly passed away, after a short but brave battle with cancer.
“The multi BAFTA award-winning writer, director, actor and comedian died peacefully at her North London home with family this morning. She was 62.”
