ICONIC yacht designer Ed Dubois who set up Dubois Naval Architects in 1977 died suddenly at the age of 64 on March 24 following an illness in 2015 from which it was thought that he had recovered.

His career spanned decades and he was known for his passion and commitment to his many clients throughout the world for whom he designed many spectacular yachts and motor boats of the highest standard.

The business will continue and Peter Bolke, who was senior designer for the company and had worked for it for 23 years, will become Managing Director with immediate effect.

A regatta named after him, the Dubois Cup was inaugurated in 2007 and its first race was in Palma, before finding a more permanent home at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardinia.

The company which is based in Hampshire in the UK has designed for some of the world’s best known yachtsmen and professional sailors and has a number of large vessels in production at the moment.
