Playa del Monsul: access will be limited.

CERTAIN beaches in the Cabo de Gata will have restricted vehicle access over the summer, according to the new regulations set by the Junta de Andalucia regional government.

On Monday March 28 new rules were published by the Territorial Delegation of Agriculture, Fishing and Environment of the Junta in Almeria, restricting access to the beaches inside the Cabo de Gata Natural Park located to the west of the district of San Jose, in Nijar, between the dates of June 18 and September 18.

In order to preserve the area of ‘high ecological and natural value’, access will now be limited to the beaches located between Genoveses and Cala Carbon, including Monsul beach.

The Territorial Delegation considered that the amount of vehicles during the previous summer exceeding the capacity, and because of this the landscape was being damaged and degraded.

The Junta also points out that the vehicles could be a safety hazard, and that the area does not have the proper medical, safety, or health services to the huge number of vehicles and people that are generated during the summer season.
