AROUND 3,000 tourism jobs are expected to be created in the Murcia Region this year.

According to the Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment Development, Juan Hernandez, nearly 50,000 workers are expected to be employed in the industry in one role or another this year. Hernandez said the goal is to reach 55,000 workers in the tourism sector by the year 2019: “The trend is positive, and we prefer to look at where we are going, rather than where we come from.”

During the first month of the year, the Region received a total of 65,009 passengers, of which 50,598 were resident in Spain and 14,411 foreigners.
