TRAGEDY struck in Essex on Saturday March 26 when a young girl died after the bouncy castle she was playing in became airborne due to strong winds.
The girl was enjoying a day out in the Harlow Town Park, when the castle was suddenly ripped from its moorings and flew about 150 metres. Wind speeds were reported to be between 20-25 mph at the time.
After the castle landed, witnesses ran to assist the girl. She was treated by ambulance crews and then taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, but she ultimately succumbed to her severe injuries.
As a result of the incident, two people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter as the result of gross negligence.
In the aftermath of the girl’s death, people have begun to leave flowers by the gates of the park, which is still partially cordoned off.
