Car Explosion in Berlin

A DRIVER has been killed in Berlin after a car exploded whilst travelling down a busy road.

A police officer at the scene said that the car flipped upside down when it exploded. Investigators are checking the car to determine the exact cause and whether there are further explosives. 

A warning to local residents, in the western district of Charlottenburg, has been issued telling them to stay in the back of their apartments with the windows closed. 

Berlin Police issued a statement via Twitter “Our investigators believe it was an explosive device that caused the vehicle to explode.” 

Police also posted an image on Twitter of the wreckage of a silver VW Passat station wagon on the street.The car’s windows are blown out and its front end is smashed in.

Deputy Chief spokesman Carsten Mueller explained that the police are still trying to determine the dead man’s identity.
