Two hikers die amid the blizzards in Castellon

TWO WOMEN have lost their lives after getting lost in a snow storm in Castellon over the weekend of February 27 and 28 whilst thousands of people have experienced electrical black-outs across Spain due to severe storm conditions which include strong winds and snow storms.

The two hikers went missing on Saturday along with a man who was found alive by an emergency search team on Sunday.

The rescued man is said to be in good condition in hospital, after helping the rescue operation locate the bodies of the two missing women.

The Generalitat announced that: “the government expresses its condolences for the death of the two hikers,”

Aragon and Navarra bore the brunt of the storms with more than 10,000 homes experiencing black-outs caused by the excessive rain, snow and wind in the region.

Snowploughs have been busy clearing the roads and the electricity is back on for the vast majority of people with only 250 residences remaining without power.
