LADIES CLUB: Donated €300 to the Elche Children’s Home.

THE Elche Children’s Home has benefited from numerous local donations. Last week, Annette and Dave English attended a charity night at the Fountain Bar in Dolores organised by the owners Dave and Aaron along with Richie Sparks from Big FM and music from Alex Scott.

Weeks before the event the bar had been selling raffle tickets and food donations were made on the night as a total of €785 was raised and donated to Annette and Dave on behalf of the charity.

Annette also visited the La Marina Ladies Circle at the Sports Complex in Urbanisation La Marina. The ladies meet every Thursday afternoon and had raised €300 which they decided to donate to The Elche Children’s Home and will also be making donations of much needed toiletries.

The care home is ‘home’ to children aged 11-18, who have been taken out of their family unit for whatever reason, some have issues and illnesses, but Annette said they all need care and support: “The care and love that the people at that home show them is amazing, they go out different children. We have had a number of children leave the home over the last year and have been able to return home which is great, but of course they take everything with them, so we have to start all over again.

“A child may come in with just the clothes on their back so we have to clothe and provide for them,” reminding people how important all donations to the charity are.
