Helle Hollis has introduced hybrid vehicles to the fleet!

HELLE HOLLIS: Environmentally friendly initiative.

Helle Hollis car rental is well-known for launching new initiatives. It was the first car rental company on the Costa del Sol with smoke-free cars and they are now leaping one step further by introducing hybrid vehicles!

The managing director, Hans Hugo From, states there is an increasing demand for environmentally-friendly vehicles, and expects that many customers would like to test drive a hybrid vehicle during their holiday, before taking a final decision to buy a similar vehicle in their home country.

On March 15 Helle Hollis will be taking delivery of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid and Toyota Auris Hybrid automatic models.

The Toyota hybrid vehicle switches automatically between a gas engine and an electric motor. Hans Hugo explains that the hybrid vehicle is really easy to drive, and one should not worry about charging the battery.

The battery is charged automatically while driving and braking. “You just have to make sure that there is always petrol in the tank like a regular car.”

The Toyota Yaris Hybrid models can, on combined fuel consumption, use up to 85.6mpg and the larger Auris model up to 80.7mpg.

In addition, the models are environmentally friendly with CO2 emissions from 75g/km. The Toyota hybrid vehicle is quite silent during city driving, where the electric motor is used. The car also accelerates quickly.

“The car is totally silent. The first few times I pressed the start button several times. I could not hear the engine start, but you get used to that quickly,” he added.

“Currently, Helle Hollis is the only car rental company on the Costa del Sol which offers hybrid vehicles for rentals, so we do expect that this model will have a great demand for all those who want to drive an environmentally- friendly car or intend to buy this model after their holiday,” he concluded.
