El Corte Ingles to take on Amazon

El Corte Ingles, Alicante.

HAVING first trialled its internet shopping site in larger cities in Spain before Christmas, El Corte Ingles has now announced that it will extend its service to include Alicante, Marbella, Murcia and Palma, whose stores will join Malaga, which was part of the initial launch.

100,000 is the number of products which El Corte Ingles will offer through its website.

The plan is certainly to take part of the Amazon business, by offering a wide range of products with the possibility of supply within two hours. This service will now be available to up to 10 million consumers in Spain.

To make life even easier they offer their own dedicated site in English at http://www.elcorteingles.eu/shop/uk/en

They’re going to have to seriously buck up their customer service before trying to take on Amazon
I along with 6 others I know have tried placing an order via their UK site. 2 weeks later we’ve either had a vague email saying there’s be a delay or orders have been cancelled. Not off to a particularly good start
