POLICE have arrested a woman for allegedly defrauding up to €2,000 from eight unemployed people she had offered work to.
The 46-year-old committed the scams in Santa Pola, Crevillente and Elche. She is alleged to have taken advantage of their vulnerability and offered them a contract at a catering establishment that was being opened.
She asked them for money up front to pay for part of their uniform which was promised to be returned with their first pay cheque.
However, the contract and job never materialised. It is reported the woman regularly moved around and changed her appearance to avoid recognition.
