The new series of Benidorm will start filming in March.

Queues of hopeful stars, eagerly anticipating their chance to shine, emerged as auditions got underway for the forthcoming series of Benidorm.

The Melia hotel in Benidorm hosted the casting event on February 19 and local hopefuls arrived en masse for the opportunity to have their 15 minutes of fame.

The Mediterranea-Audicion agency was hired to organise the casting call as a ninth series of the hit show is due to start filming in March 2016.

Filming Spain, the local production company in Spain representing larger Tiger Aspect Productions are set to film the new series, which will contain an extra two episodes making a total of 9 episodes.

Organisers have asked that auditionees have an NIE number, Spanish social security number and are resident in the Benidorm area from March to July.

When Benidorm first hit ITV screens back in 2007, no-one imagined the huge success it would achieve. Series 10 has now been confirmed.
