PRINCESS CRUISES is to become the first operator to use Cartagena as a start and finishing point for cruise passengers.
In May, the Royal Princess will welcome passengers on board to begin their Mediterranean cruise from Cartagena, although it will not be the starting point for the ship itself.
But this is the first time this has happened in Cartagena and it means the city is getting one step closer to becoming a cruise ship home port.
Minister of Tourism, Juan Hernandez and the president of the Port Authority of Cartagena, Antonio Sevilla, signed the agreement with the company Mundomar Cruises, which is the representative in Spain of Princess Cruises.
Hernandez said this move will “increase the spending power of tourists who stay longer in the city, generating more wealth and a significant economic boost for the Region.”
