THE National Government and the Motril Port have agreed that the government will provide the port with the necessary assistance to help trading activity go more smoothly.
This agreement has been long-awaited by the Motril Port Authorities. Previously the provinces of Granada and Malaga were in charge of providing an inspection service for goods coming from Africa, but they were not sending any inspectors on the weekends.
As a result Motril could not maximise its trading opportunities, as all goods proceeding from Africa need to be checked and inspected. The new agreement establishes that plant protection inspectors as well as customs inspectors will be sent when needed, including weekends.
