Beachcombers and photographers should exercise care at the seaside.

THE forecast given for the weekend beginning February 12 confirms a noticeable drop in temperature as Atlantic storms bring an increased chance of rain, gusting winds and wilder waves.

Back-to-back storms heading for Western Europe will hit the coast of Portugal on February 12, fizzling out to persistent showers and windy conditions by the time they reach the Mediterranean coastline of Southern Spain.

On February 13, a second round of west-bound storms will bring more showers and heavy cloud to the Costa del Sol and Gibraltar, where temperatures could drop by as much as seven degrees Celsius and stay in the mid-teens until well into the following week.
