AN ARMED MAN has been arrested at a Disneyland Paris hotel on January 28, when security guards at the Hotel New York insisted that he check his bag through a metal detector.

The machine revealed that the 28-year old was carrying two guns, some ammunition and a copy of the Koran.

Accompanied by an unarmed woman, who was also arrested, the accused may have intended to use his weapons in Europe´s most popular theme park.

Police reports have confirmed that their initial investigations did not point to terrorism and that their ´European´ suspect had claimed he was carrying weapons to protect himself. French intelligence and security services said the individual was not on their radar.

Following major terror incidents in Paris in 2015, the country remains in a state of emergency, with French President Francois Hollande recently announcing plans to extend the national alert.
