THE new OMIC, Municipal Office of Consumer Information, has been opened in its new location of the La Plasa indoor market in the city.
Mayor Jose Manuel Dolon said the office was moved to the heart of Torrevieja so it was more accessible to citizens, as they are “obliged by law” to offer the consumer service in an area with a population of over 50,000 inhabitants.
The mayor added: “The OMIC is an essential public service that we provide to consumers. By having it here in the centre it is part of the commitment of the government to encouraging people to come here, participate in leisure, business activities and social life of Torrevieja.”
The purpose of the OMIC is to inform and guide consumers and users about their rights, receive complaints and claims, and offer education and training in consumer affairs.
They also collaborate with the Arbitration Board of Alicante and can help mediate between parties to resolve certain conflicts and issues.
The OMIC office in La Plasa, in Calle Joaquin Chapaprieta, is open from 8am-2pm.
