Marbella specialist diving squad still on dry land

MARBELLA fire brigade’s new specialist diving unit is still not operative six months after the firefighters ended their training.

The 12 new divers from Marbella Fire Department, who completed their training last June, are still not operative despite council promises that they would be.

Instead, the council explained during talks with the group that they were ‘evaluating financial strategies’ to activate this service.  Local Councillor Victoria Mendiola said: “We are trying to figure out how we can do it, because we think it is necessary.”
