THE Malagueño glitterati descended on Madrid this week to officially launch the hit promotional video ‘Somos Malaga. Somos de Malaga’.
Fifty of Malaga’s famous sons and daughters including Antonio Banderas, Dani Rovira, Pablo Alboran, Diana Navarro, Dani Garcia and Pablo Puyol have converted themselves into ambassadors for the city, in a campaign that shows the transformation of Malaga over the last few years into an international superstar of the tourism industry.
The prestigious Cinema Callao in Madrid was the star-studded venue for the tourism presentation of “We are Malaga” in the presence of Mayor Francisco de la Torre, the president of the Provincial Council, Elias Bendodo, and secretary of state for tourism, Isabel Borrego.
The production, which had a budget of €50,000, was directed by Fernando Ramos, and has proved to be an online hit already being reposted more than 500,000 times on different social networks since its preview last November.
The mayor underlined that Malaga has grown in all tourist indicators, including employment, hotel stays and transportation numbers. He went on to state, “it’s obvious that Malaga is now one of the most powerful urban destinations in Spain.”
