A FILM partly shot in the Tabernas desert in Almeria is in the running for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, according to the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Danish film A War opened last September at the Venice Film Festival and tells the story of a Danish military company captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Directed by Tobias Lindholm, the film briefly paused in Almeria Province in January 2015 to shoot for one day in the Llano del Buho area in Tabernas.
The 88th edition of the glitzy ceremony will take place on February 28, with The Revenant, by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, leading the nominations.
