IT’S taken months of hard work and determination, but the Quesada Fitness Gym, Boxing and MMA Club is now open in its new location and new premises in Quesada.
In a grand unveiling and spectacular open day, it has been revealed to members of the public, bigger and better than ever before.
As the professional fitness team tell their members, nothing is easily achieved without hard work and dedication, and this was never more true than in creating the new Quesada Fitness Gym.
It was a year ago that owner Vivienne Shepherd purchased the plot of land on Avenida del Aeropuerto in Quesada, and after months of meetings and paperwork to get the necessary licences, work began on constructing the impressive three storey building.
It was officially opened by Holly Bird, a winning mixed martial artist, who welcomed the opportunity to have somewhere to train when she is over in Spain visiting her parents: “A gym is more than a gym, it is a place where friendships are made, targets are met and set and this has everything.”
An emotional and delighted Vivienne addressed the crowds and the mayor, who has supported the project, and said: “It is 48 years since I got my first job and I can’t believe I’ve done this.”
She joked she came to Spain to retire and to take on a project like this is ‘insane,’ but after seeing her own health transformed by the gym under the guidance of Santi, a boxing and MMA instructor, she saw his passion become her passion, and undertook this massive project, which Vivienne said she has been told is now the biggest privately-owned gym in the Valencia Region.
On the top floor there is a chill out zone and hair and beauty salons. Below is the spacious main gym and boxing ring, with another competition-level ring due to arrive shortly.
The club has already received international interest about hosting competitions, and they are running a school of excellence allowing people to train to become personal trainers and receive the necessary qualifications.
On the lower level are the workout, dance and class studios which host everything from spinning and salsa to zumba and tai chi, with many on display at the open day. With the workout finished you can relax in the sauna or visit the power station juice bar.
