SEVERAL UK citizens have been arrested in Spain after a British man was killed in a Costa Blanca resort in the early hours of Saturday morning, January 16.
The Foreign Office has confirmed that the man died after being stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle during a fight at a bar in Villamartin Plaza in the Orihuela Costa resort, just south of Alicante.
“We can confirm the death of a British national in Alicante, Spain on 16 January 2016,” a spokesperson said.
“We are in contact with the local authorities and standy ready to provide consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.”
She also said that four Britons have been detained over suspected involvement in the incident.
