A VERY terse statement from the Catalan government announced on the evening of January 13 “The former First Minister of the Catalan government, Artur Mas, has resigned his seat as an MP in the Catalan parliament today”
It will be recalled that when he declared on January 9 that he was proposing Carles Puigdemont for the role of first minister he said that he did not intend to serve in any capacity in the new regional government but intended to devote his time to transform his party Convergencia.
No doubt he will emerge within the Catalan political scene in the coming months, especially if the parliament does proceed towards independence.
