THE governing body of World football FIFA, has announced that they have dismissed their general secretary Jerome Valcke. In addition, they recommended that he should be banned from football for nine years.
The 55-year-old-Frenchman, was currently suspended and undergoing formal adjudication regarding allegations arising from the on-going 2015 FIFA corruption case, and his alleged involvement in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets.
A FIFA statement said, “The FIFA emergency committee decided, on 9 January 2016, to dismiss Jerome Valcke from the position of FIFA secretary general with immediate effect.”
Sepp Blatter’s number two Valcke, who also faces bribery allegations, has denied any wrongdoing.
