Guardia Civil discover cannabis plantation inside house

AFTER receiving reports of an annoying noise and a strong smell of what could be marijuana emanating froma house in Villanueva de Perales, officers of the Guardia Civil Villamanta (Madrid) decided to investigate.

Officers attended the property and having noted for themselves the smell and hearing the noise of electrical equipment operating even late at night, they attempted to speak with the residents who never answered the door.

It was then decided that it would be appropriate to undertake a discrete surveillance of the property which revealed that there was normally at  least one man in residence who rarely left the property but did open the door to another man who arrived by car and collected a number of bags and then drove off.

Having obtained appropriate authorisation, the officers raided the house and discovered that house had been divided into two areas, one used for the cultivation and growth of plants and the other for drying marijuana. They found a number of sodium lamps to provide light and heat, air conditioners, fertilizers and 1038 plants in various stages of growth, which weighed 85.06 kg, and were worth about €89,000.

Three Albanians aged 20, 21, and 36 have been arrested and charged with crimes of belonging to a criminal organization against public health (cultivation and production of drugs) and theft of electricity supply, since they had overridden the electricity meter.
