THE Junior Choir from Torrevieja’s Escuela Coral Municipal took third place in the Rojales Carols and Lullabies contest.
This was the 37th edition of the nationwide competition, one of the most important in Spain, and the excellent result brought with it €1,000 and a trophy.
Representatives from the choir later visited the town hall where they were received by Torrevieja’s mayor Jose Manuel Dolon and councillor Domingo Soler.
“We are very proud of our Municipal Choir School which ensures that Torrevieja’s choral tradition is maintained,” said Dolon who is also president of the board that organises the annual Habaneras song contest.
“Not only that, but the prizes and recognition you bring home from festivals and contests demonstrate that you are doing a very good job,” the mayor told the choir members and Pilar Paez, director of the Escuela Coral Municipal.
