SON SERRA BEACH: Lovers of the beach hope that it is in safe hands.
SON SERRA DE LA MARINA is one of Mallorca’s last virgin beaches, situated at the northeast of the island in the municipality of Santa Margalida.
This week, local coalition Suma pel Canvi responded to neighbours’ complaints and on their behalf requested that the coastal authorities (Demarcacion de Costas) study the recent request to install beach bars by the town hall.
The neighbours of the Son Serra urbanisation took their complaint one step further and started an online petition, which in just a few hours of going live had reached 1,000 people and after two days the goal of 2,500 people was reached.
A neighbourhood representative said “We realised by having a petition we could concentrate our efforts and reach more people who feel the same way about Son Serra beach.”
