PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS: Have been given a budget of €650,000.
PROPOSED improvements to the Caleta de Velez Port have been given a budget of €650,000.
The main change anticipated is the extension of the seafront by knocking down a large part of the port wall, something that many local residents have been requesting for decades.
However, the general idea behind the plan is to make the whole area surrounding the port more appealing to the public, by adding pavements, gardens, and other urban amenities.
The project will be put out to public tender in 2016. Organisations or individuals will have until February 15 to submit statements or offers relating to the development and implementation of the port changes.
