THE head candidate on the PP list for Alicante Province, Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo, has been in Almoradi on the campaign trail. He said: “Only the Popular Party guarantees the Vega Baja water needs.”
Margallo visited the local headquarters with President of the PP in Alicante Province, José Ciscar, and PP spokesman in Almoradi, Maria Gomez, among others. Margallo explained that “the future of this region is linked to the infrastructure that the PP has launched. Within this infrastructure, the Mediterranean Corridor is essential for agriculture, because the products of the Vega Baja have a direct channel to reach European markets every morning.
“But if we want to export agricultural products, we need water. Only transfers guarantee water and only water guarantees the future of agricultural jobs. Therefore, we need water diversions to the field and Vega Baja for it to have a future.”
Margallo also visited the Valor chocolate factory in Villajoyosa where he set out the PP’s plans to enhance service and exporters allowing companies to compete internationally creating new employment opportunities.
Margallo was also in Torrevieja during the fiesta weekend where he said the desalination plant was the “paradigm of waste.” Costing €300 million “it consumes an enormous amount of energy and offers a low water quality at a price that does not seem very affordable. With the €300 million it cost they could have done more to the area’s infrastructure and improved schools and hospitals.”
