TWO men and a woman have been arrested in Fuengirola for allegedly burgling a local home on September 11 and stealing three safes containing €1.7 million.
National Police officers called to the scene noted that there were no signs of forceful entry and the burglar alarm was not on at the time the theft happened and initially investigated people close to the victims, but eventually discovered the alleged burglars had rented the house next door.
When they were ready to carry out the crime, a fourth person helped by causing a distraction outside, the officers decided, while the other three entered the house and removed the safes unnoticed.
A search of the car the suspects were using revealed traces of rubble matching that found in the house where the safes had been torn from the wall, the police force reported.
