The sculptor has decided Estepona is the perfect place for his work to be displayed.
SCULPTOR Santiago de Santiago has provided Estepona with another sculpture, Tatuaje, the eighth of his works to be installed on the streets of the town.
The 2.4 metre, 190 kilos statue of a couple hugging can be seen on the newest roundabout on Avenida Juan Carlos between Parque Central and the health centre.
Local Mayor Jose Maria Garcia Urbano has said that the fact de Santiago has promised to move his entire personal collection to Estepona is a great honour, as he is considered to be one of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century.
De Santiago’s work includes a number of busts of members of the Spanish Royal Family and other famous people, some of which are on display in parks in Japan, Russia, Mexico, Denmark and other countries.
