FOUR months after the Velez-Malaga Council approved by majority vote to get the ball rolling with an aim to making Torre del Mar an autonomous community, those who voted in favour met to discuss the next step in the process. They discussed whether the plan was a viable option.
It is the next step to make the plans made public for 30 days, after which they must send the reports to the Junta de Andalucia regional government, which has the last word, and the provincial council.
Despite advance warning, the council failed to produce documents or reports relating to the project and its viability, the opposition claimed. However, other councillors argued that the reports had already been delivered to the Junta offices in Sevilla.
