The alleged thieves will stand trial at Malaga courts on December 9

THREE men accused of stealing the official seating stand for Easter Week which is set up each year in Malaga City’s Plaza de la Constitucion are facing jail sentences of up to three years.

The prosecution is also requesting they pay the €91,866 it cost to replace the damaged and missing parts of the metallic structure between them.

The three, who are due to appear in court on December 9, are believed to have plotted to enter the area where the stand was stored in September 2010 with three rented lorries and cart off the metallic parts to sell off as scrap. Altogether 16,500 kilos were stolen, which they allegedly sold for €3,564.
