New anti-war movement launched in Spain

FOUR leftist mayors of Barcelona (Ada Colau), Zaragoza (Pedro Santiesteve), Cádiz (Jose María Gonzalez, Kichi) and La Coruña (Xulio Ferreiro) signed a document launching an anti-war movement in Spain on the evening of November 23 under the name No En Nuestro Nombre (Not in Our Name).

A number of well-known Spanish names from entertainment and journalism have been added to the statement and it is supported by six Moslem groups.

The concept of the agreement is that those involved reject both the use of terror by groups such as ISIS but also rejects all of the actions being taken against Syrian targets in the name of democracy.

Through their website noasusguerras.es (no to their wars), they have announced that there will be a demonstration in Madrid at noon on Saturday November 28.

At the same time, Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias announced on November 24 that his party was calling a ‘council for peace’ to find ‘real solutions’ to terrorism.
