Motril prepares for a colourful Christmas

MOTRIL’S streets and squares are about to be covered with colour as the council has prepared more than 7,500 poinsettias to be planted in the area for the festive period.

The plants, 2,000 of which are white and the rest red, were grown from cuttings this year at municipal greenhouses saving about €2 per plant, local Mayor Flor Almon and Parks and Gardens Councillor Gloria Chica reported after a visit to the department’s storehouses to see the plants.

Gardeners will be busy over the next two or three weeks putting the colourful plants into place which, the mayor said, will serve as the perfect complement for the Christmas lights.
