Spain’s Tribunal de Cuentas calculates that out-of-work Almeria residents have received €10.7 million too much in benefits.
Adding in irregularities that correspond to last year this could rise to €15 million, the accounts tribunal revealed, ‘owing to incoherencies, inconsistencies and errors in information forwarded by state employment service SEPE.’
Some workers have received benefits without complying with requirements while others are already receiving other types of subsidies.
The money must be returned, the tribunal announced, voluntarily or otherwise.
