IT is now less than two weeks to go until Dave and Mitch Bull row 52km from Murcia City to Guardamar del Segura down the river Segura to raise money for AECC in conjunction with Maria’s Pink Ladies.
As the Kayak Challenge on November 28 draws nearer, the boys are travelling around the area, building local interest at their stop off points and handing out sponsor forms to bars, restaurants and shops.
Last week, Dave called in on the Costa Women Costa Blanca South monthly meeting at the Hotel Algorfa. The boys expect to arrive in Algorfa around 3.30pm on the afternoon of the challenge where they will be met by staff from the Vestry Restaurant with much-needed food and drink.
Dave, resplendent in one of the official Kayak Challenge t-shirts sponsored by Blacktower Finance, spoke of the generosity of their sponsors, who have financed essential equipment for the challenge. Specsavers provided sunglasses for Dave, Mitch and the driver of the support vehicle.
The final preparations are coming together nicely. Howells Removals will be transporting the kayaks from Gran Alacant to Murcia on the day, and there will be a display of classic cars to welcome the boys to Guardamar Port when they arrive somewhere between an expected time of 5-6pm. In case they are any later they will be equipped with head torches in case the last few kilometres of the row have to be completed in the dark
Over €2,000 has already been raised towards their target of €5,000. The Kayak Challenge is Dave and Mitch’s unique response to the news that a close family member has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
