BOTH Rome and Milan have increased and taken additional security measures after receiving a warning by the American FBI that terrorists may be targeting several famous Italian landmarks including St Peter´s Basilica, El Duomo, Milan´s famous cathedral and La Scala, the renowned opera house of Milan. If these are too well protected it noted, terrorists might go after softer targets like restaurants, churches and synagogues.

The Italian press agency ANSA announced that the FBI branch in Italy had given the Italian government five names of possible Arab suspects.  The American Embassy in Italy has told its countrymen to be on extra alert however Italian State Radio, RAI, said earlier today “there are no direct signs of concrete threats”.

Just yesterday Pope Francis peacefully carried out his weekly audience, though his team of bodyguards was bolstered.

Italian security services will carry out extra checks and add more guards in area´s such as the Jewish quarter of Milan. Everybody fears a repeat of the shocking terrorist attack that hit Paris just last week, whereby 129 people lost their lives. ISIS than claimed it was as a retribution for French attack in Syria but  Italy is, so far, not participating in any bombing campaigns in Syria.
