MIJAS council has announced a series of reforesting days over the next few months. It has invited volunteers and nature lovers to get involved and do their bit for the environment.
The first of the activities are planned for this coming Sunday (November 22). They will be focusing on Entrerrios’ Fuente de la Teja area. This is a part of the countryside that has been particularly hard hit by forest fires in recent years.
Adena ecologists’ association, Asociacion Planeta BIO from Estepona and various other volunteer groups have promised to turn out. The council is hoping to beat last year’s campaign. That time 460 volunteers planted 2,400 trees over eight days filled with activities.
“The people of Mijas can do something to help conserve our natural environment thanks to these activities. It’s a very special opportunity to do our bit and recover our countryside and we invite everyone to join in,” said Environmental Councillor Angel Nozal.
If you are interested in joining and helping, you can. There are more days planned. Further reforesting dates will be November 28 and 29, December 11, 12 and 13 and January 16 and 17.
