Top opportunity for aspiring chefs

HATS OFF: Students at the Cordon Bleu school in Madrid.

CATERING schools in the province will this year be able to take part in the fourth Premio Promesas by Le Cordon Bleu Madrid, a competition which offers winning students scholarships of between €7,000 and €21,000.

The competition, which is quickly becoming one of the most important in the country, endorses the institution’s commitment to training aspiring chefs.

Andalucia, being one of the regions with the most participants opting for prizes, sees Rosario Barrios, head of Le Cordon Bleu Madrid, visiting catering schools in the region this week, specifically some in Malaga.

The goal is to recognise talent and encourage the best young chefs in the country to pursue their careers, he said.

“We know catering schools are full of passionate, brave young people, but we can only put our money on two of them, meaning selection processes get tougher every year.”
