Straits of Gibraltar
HAVING been found guilty on November 5 of attempting to import 100 kilos of cannabis resin into Gibraltar, a Moroccan man was jailed for three years and four months.
26 year old Najib Ghezeil from Tangiers was arrested off of Europa Point in August of this year on a jet ski and when apprehended by the Royal Gibraltar Police it transpired that he was carrying 100 kilos of cannabis resin, estimated to be worth around £500,000 (€700,000).
Having risked his life by taking the jet ski across the Straits, the man pleaded guilty to a range of offences connected with drugs, safety at sea and obstruction to the police.
